AFRICA!!!!

Seychelles beach from our room!

I’m going to pause my post writing for a day or two in order to give you an update on Africa. It sure got here quick! I’ll post Mumbai day 2, Abu Dhabu and Dubai over the next few days as we are resting. People laugh and say, you’re on a cruise, why do you need to rest. Well, the range of 5-10 mile walking, several days in a row are just exhausting and our itinerary has been intense and non-stop. We love what we are doing, but just need a break. So we chose to spend a week (5 days) in Seychelles to relax and do absolutely nothing that required effort. Our bodies and minds need a break and what better place to do it!

So, Africa is finally here. We actually don’t leave for Nairobi until May 15th and will meet our ship in Capetown, South Africa on May 27th. This is very exciting for us and since it wasn’t really in our plan but on our bucket list, it was a perfect opportunity for the safari.

We will spend 2 nights in Nairobi, Kenya before proceeding to Maasai Mara (3 nights), then to Ol Pejeta (2 nights) and then back to Nairobi (2 nights) and then Capetown, South Africa (3 nights) where we meet our ship.

They call this the honeymoon suite. 😂❤️

We will fly on 4 different airplanes and be in 6 different hotels, lodges and camps throughout so that we can have multiple opportunities for wildlife spotting. I’m looking for the big 5 and then some. The big 5 consists of lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and African buffalo. We are assured we will see all of these (but not promised) and then some!

We will be visiting a Masaai Mara village, see the last two white rhinos in existence, visit the Sheldrick wildlife trust where we will see orphaned elephants rescued and rehabilitated, a giraffe center to see the endangered Rothschild giraffes, a cultural dinner with music and dance and have breakfast while the hippos are taking a bath in their pool and a chimpanzee conservatory. Whew! All this while having game drives up to 2 times a day. Animals are out morning and night when its cool. Dont blame them a bit! We will then spend our last 3 nights in Capetown South Africa where we will meet our ship to carry on for the next 3 1/2 months of our cruise!

What an amazing adventure we are embarking on. I thought the cruise itself was extraordinary until we were “forced” to go around Africa. How amazing is that?!

I cant wait to tell you all about it as we take this little side trip. Our internet may be little to non-existent so I’ll write when I can. I don’t want you to miss out!

Ahhhhh!

I found out my good friend who turned us on to traveling and Africa especially, will have her 2nd heart surgery in a few months. Please pray for her recovery. Her blog is at www.worldwidewaftage.com if you want to see some amazing travel adventures. You won’t be disappointed.

May God bless you always!

  1. I’ve done several safari’s in SA. Amazing, amazing is all I can say! Can’t wait to hear your experiences! Only one of the big five I have not seen is the leopard. They are very elusive and hard to see! Let me know if you see one!!
