Vaccines and Prescriptions

My birthday month is going to be amazing!

We have finished all the vaccines we choose to partake. We are now on first name bases with our local Walgreen’s! We went through this in 2018/2019 when we started our world travels. A few only needed booster’s and others are good for 10 years or life so didn’t have to get poked again! The following is what we had:

  • Covid booster
  • RSV
  • Flu
  • Japanese encephalitis booster (had 3 of these in 2018
  • Typhoid

We already had these:

  • Hepatitis A&B
  • Yellow Fever

We have chosen not to take the regimen for Malaria. The pills do more harm than good and we have taken other steps of prevention. Treated clothing with permethrin and will spray exposed areas with a form of Deet. We will be hyper-vigilant to ensure we pay attention to our surroundings. Malaria can be found in many warm climates but most specifically in Asia and South America.

This is called our yellow card for yellow fever. Some countries won’t allow you to enter without it. Our old PO box from our last travels.
Officially stamped or it’s in-valid

Our doctors and pharmacist have been great with ensuring we have all the prescriptions we need for the full 9 months. In addition to our normal maintenance drugs we asked for and received additional Migraine pain prescriptions (non narcotic), high altitude sickness drugs, zpacks, steroid packs and albuteral inhalers for my frequent CVAs (Cough variant asthma) as well as steroid packs for Chucks hip pains. All these drugs make me feel old! But all necessary and great to be prepared for anything.

We also have a ton of anything you can imagine that’s in a medicine cabinet. Aspirin. Tylenol, tums, Pepto, anti diarrheal, constipation, vomiting, antibiotic creams, bandaids, alcohol, peroxide, all stuff for colds and flu, stuff for blisters on our feet that we will definitely need for all the walking we will be doing. And, so much more… I think it’s better to be prepared and not use it than to need it and not have it. Can we get these on the ship? Probably, either from the ships store or a visit to the ship doc for $250 plus the cost of the drug. I’m not taking a ton of each. Just a ton altogether! 😂

This is now full of non prescription type drugs, etc and some shoes. I left it full and just folded it down into the suitcase!

We are close to having everything needed and taken care of prior to and for this epic journey. Two years have flown by!

May God bless you always!
