We have a new baby! Expenses updated!

Charlie Lake Allen

Yesterday, in Texas, tornadoes were wreaking havoc all around as our granddaughter checked into the maternity ward in North Texas. As snow fell to the ground, our granddaughter Kristina had her first child, a girl, weighing 7 lbs 11 oz.,  January 11th at 4:56 am. Her name is Charlie Lake. We are so proud of Krissie and Dmitri. They will be amazing parents. Charlie is a special little girl in that she was named after her great, great grandfather, Charles (Charlie) Reynolds, Sr. We cannot begin to express the joy in having a namesake to carry on Grandpa Charlies legacy.

He would have been so proud to have known Krissie and Dmitri gave this name to baby Charlie. I’m sure he’s looking down now with a protective and proud look on his face! We are so proud of them both. She’s a cutie and we cannot wait to hold her in our arms. Although that will be tough since we wont see her until May. Welcome Charlie Lake, you made a thunderous yet snow white peaceful entrance into this world!

You will be loved more than you know!

Now, on to the boring stuff. I finished up our expenses from the cruises and our 3 night stay in Dubai. Dubai was very expensive! If you’ll remember, we canceled our 3 week hotel stay and booked two cruises and ended up with only 3 days in a hotel. The cruises always cost us a little more because I dont budget for excursions. We try to spend as little as possible on tourist stuff but when its a place we may never see again, such as Petra, Jordan, you just have to do it.

The boats are all uniquely and colorfully decorated

That particular excursion was $250 just for me. Chuck was injured (his knee) and we canceled his. We normally wouldn’t spend that much on one excursion but this was just one of those times we decided it was worth it. And, indeed it was! That’ll be a memory I’ll have for years to come and have no regrets except the fact Chuck was unable to attend.  We are banking on the costs balancing out in the end.

If we can overspend $100 or less on average per month, we think we will do fine with this traveling on a budget. We are finding that Bali is going to save us as much, if not more than Morocco did. So, we know now where we need to visit to save some money!

Yesterday we walked along the beach and saw some cool looking boats. They fish quite a bit here in front of the villa yet we have not ventured out when they are coming in to see what they catch. Chuck says the motors on the boats look like weed-eaters! 😆

May God bless you always!
