Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a port city on the island of Tenerife, Canary Islands. We chose to stay in this area for several reasons. It’s where the majority of the locals live. Its less tourist driven and quiet.

They call this The Santa Cruz tourist sign.
Well, it should be. We have noticed these locals like to yell down the street A LOT! We spend some of our time walking around Plaza de Espana, in English, Spain Square.

In the middle of the square is a Spanish Civil War Memorial, a tribute to the fallen in the Spanish Civil War that was fought between 1936 and 1939.

Sailboats in the Marina.
Many locals and tourists were hanging around this area. The most fun for us on this day was the remote control boats.
The kids jumping for joy as the boat whizzed by and splashing water on themselves was a blast to watch. After we had enough fun with the boats we walked across the street to see the life sized boats in the Puertos de Tenerife Marina.

The marina was really nice and peaceful. So many places to sit around and relax.
On a separate note, we received our replacement suitcase.

We really wanted to see these big ships in the water but they wouldn’t put them in there.
Its a European model so it speaks Spanish, (Just kidding) Its a nice piece of Samsonite. What we notice as being different is this model doesn’t have zippers or room for expansion.

The remote control Minions. It was awesome!

The skiing Minion looks terrified!
Its hard-sided just like our busted one and has 3 latches that close and lock it. One on all 3 sides. It also has the TSA locks which was one of our requirements.

The only problem I see with this type is that we cannot expand it to add a little more. Most airlines charge by the piece and each can weigh up to 50 pounds.

A few airlines here in Europe bill by the weight. So, you can pack a maximum of 70 pounds in one suitcase and have up to 10 suitcases as long as you don’t exceed the total amount of weight allowed.

Amazing pastries. It was so hard to just buy water.
We have a flight booked later in the year that has that requirement and we are hoping we can distribute as evenly as possible without going over.

The walking paths are gorgeous and lined with flowering plants and flowers.
We’ll hope for the best. Our next trip when leaving here on October 20th is Essaouira, Morocco. The flight is a prop plane (and yes, I’m scared to death, its a 2 hour trip). We have paid for two bags but they wont allow us to pay for the third one until we arrive at the airport. The cost is €150 Euros for the 3rd bag! Unbelievable!

Fred Olsen is a ferry that travels between islands. You can even take your car.

A Chinese restaurant by the pier along the walkway. We are thinking of trying it before we leave.
And, the airlines doesn’t guarantee it will be on the flight you leave on. We looked into shipping it but the cost is much higher than the
May God bless you always.
