As we sit here in the hotel today, Chuck and I are both so exhausted and feeling the aches and pains of moving, that we just cant do anymore. Notice I didn’t say getting old, although I’m sure that plays a big part in it. Its finally done! The house is sold. Thank the Lord! What a potential nightmare that was. It has rained and flooded here so much in Virginia that water was everywhere. Places it shouldn’t be so we were on pins and needles during the inspections and so thankful its over with.

We had a plan. Each room had a purpose. There was the Florida room (everything going to Florida with us), the Alaska room (all clothes, suitcases, etc going to Alaska because we had to pack since we are going to Alaska before we move to Florida), the Goodwill room (self-explanatory), the hotel room (anything going to the hotel and then on to Florida and the storage storage room. Not sure why we named that twice. 😆 I had a piece of paper in each room on the floor with the name of that room. It was pretty funny but it really worked in keeping us organized. And, each box had a packing list. I think this went a little overboard but I bet we will be thankful in the years to come.

Poor Chuck worked so hard to get it all under control and dispose of anything we didn’t need to Goodwill or the dump. I’m very thankful that he is retired and able to help so much. He did such a good job and I am so proud of him. Everything in the house was sold except for the items we just couldn’t let go of. I only kept my living room tables, all my photos on the walls and in boxes (pre-electronic world), a few heirloom furniture pieces, too much Christmas stuff and our TV!

That little 5 x 12 storage room is full and its D.O.N.E. as one of my friends put it! I don’t think we will ever live in a house again. We really want the carefree living of no yard and no maintenance.
We should be down to one car before we leave for Alaska. There is no need for two cars in Florida and we will sell Chucks before we leave for our travels. Can you imagine not being responsible for a house or a car? Will be a first for us! We will keep the house in Texas as rental property. The good news on that one is, we have someone else taking care of it.
Today was a sad day for us. Our last visit to our home Church. It was sad seeing all our friends and saying goodbye. We will always hold these friends close to our hearts. We have learned so much about loving God, learning together and serving others. I love this church and I will always call Newbridge my home.
And last but not least, we became great grandparents again on June 1. Her name is Caroline Skye. What a beauty she is!

Back to planning. We found we can obtain/purchase a phone number to use with Skype so that anyone can call us and it’ll be just like calling anyone else. Thats great news! Although, I’m disappointed that we cant keep our own phone numbers. Anyone calling us wont need to download Skype to talk to us or us to them. We can still keep in touch with our family back home. We will also need a local sim card for our phones to communicate to each other if we are apart or to call someone in that country. We found two old blackberry phones that Chuck was donating. Hey! We can use these for the local in-country calling. We’ll just buy a sim card in each country as we arrive. Its amazing at everything you take for granted and have to rethink how you will have that same luxury in another country.
We leave for our Alaskan trip/cruise with family on the 12th. I’m ready to go. I’m thankful all that planning is done. We can just relax for a little while.
Until next time. May God bless you always!
