With our cabin only being 170 square feet, we are doing some creative placement of items in our cabin. Think about a regular 12×12 bedroom being 144 sq feet. Now imagine living in a room just 26 sq feet larger. We will have to be extremely organized. To make this happen I have created a checklist that will show what item we are packing, what suitcase it will be transported in and where in our cabin it will be stored. This will also help if anything is missing or lost for insurance purposes.
We have lots of useful cubby holes, shelves and a full metal room that we can use hanging magnets for almost everything! It will definitely be a challenge.

Our second bedroom has been turned into a packing room but I’m also trying to simulate where and how we will store items. With hopefully just 4 suitcases we will use the under bed frame as storage for those. Two will become drawers for winter and/or summer clothes. The other 2 will be stacked inside each other. We are also taking 2 duffle bags, one of which I borrowed from my former Navy son! They should also fit under the bed and will have 9 month supplies available when we need to refill items.

Once we get on the ship and put everything in place I’ll post some photos. It’ll be interesting for sure! I have lots of hanging clothes and I’m sure it is twice as much as our closet on the ship will hold. They will be hanging from the walls!

3 1/2 suitcases and 1 1/2 duffle bags packed so far. This will be a daily chore until it’s all packed. I’ll save the hanging clothes until the last minute so they won’t get too wrinkled. What I’ve learned and it’s been great, is to hang up the clothes on thin wire hangers and place 5 together at a time with plastic wrap and then lay them in the suitcase! once we get to the room, open the suitcase and hang up the clothes. So much easier but I DO NOT like wire hanger’s.
It’ll all come together and with Chucks help, I am sure of that!
May God bless you always!
