Back to the Sea

This is what we do on sea days! play games.

We were able to sleep late today. Nothing planned until lunch time when we have a luncheon with fellow Diamond Plus cruisers. Each cruise we have a luncheon with others at our status. It’s always interesting to meet people and discuss their journeys. We met couples from California, Texas and New Jersey. The captain and his crew always thank this group for being loyal to Royal. It’s a nice gesture and a great lunch. Chuck and I had filet mignon. It was wonderful and so tender. We skipped breakfast since we typically only eat 2 meals a day. We would be miserable if we had 3. They definitely feed you well on these cruises.

Vibraphone. Looks like a xylophone but does 100 times more!

During lunch we learned the weather was really bad yesterday. We had a great day on the excursion and didn’t realize how bad it really was. apparently since the hurricane wreaks havoc on the oceans, it was so difficult to keep the ship tied to the dock that the captain and his crew had to keep the engines and bow thrusters to keep the ship at the dock. This was apparently moved after one of the ties snapped between the dock and the ship. If you’ve ever seen the lines on the ship, they aren’t small. That was some strong current.

This guy was amazing. This is the largest harp at sea! The Earth Harp.

Another weather related issue we learned about is a family was in the forest about 2 hours away and due to the torrential rains the road was washed out. Their 2 hour drive turned into 6 hours. Graciously the captain waited on them. They were not on a ship sponsored excursion so the captain wasn’t required to wait around. We’ve also learned this Captain is an amazing captain and look forward to his interactions daily. captain Merrill if from Poland and he’s great!

Music and sounds made with sound waves. it’s called a Theramin. Once used in movie “The day the earth stood still”.
Kalimba – worlds smallest thumb piano

Dinner with the fam again! It’s so wonderful having them here. Lonnie is feeling much better. Especially after being pampered with a couples massage that he and Susan booked.

Seas were a little rough but not bad

Tonight we were entertained by Kuba. He’s an amazing musician. I highly recommend littering to his music at kubavibes.com. Tomorrow is Panama City before we enter the canal. Lonnie wants a hat!

This is the size of the line that snapped!

The best and happiest news I heard today was my son was baptized! Such an overwhelming amount of joy and blessings. God is good!

May God bless you always.
