Fog everywhere

Trying to get to our home base in Tampa today has accrued some challenges. Apparently if there is fog anywhere near the Tampa bay Skyway bridge, they close the bridge.

So, we sat out in a holding area just before the entrance for several hours. We were scheduled to arrive before 7 am. And finally started the engines at 2 pm. It took another 3 hours to get to Tampa port, arriving at 5 pm. Customs took another 2 hours to clear the ship before we were allowed to exit. Our group was #8 so we finally headed to the exit to pick up our bags and go through customs ourselves. We finally pulled into the driveway around 8 pm.

Everyone talks about how great it is to be stuck in a cruise ship. That’s great as long as you didn’t pack your swimsuits, games, etc and put them all out in the doorway as instructed the night before. The cruise director came up with some games for these 800 kids so I’m sure that was a welcome relief to the families.

Being in a holiday weekend, it will be tough getting flights rescheduled and as a side note, we heard Tampa bay airport was closed as well. Thankful for a safe trip home and a wonderful 2 week cruise.

May God bless you always!
