What next?

This waiting game is driving us crazy! We are now at the Hampton Inn. Nice hotel and nice people. Of course they don’t know we are here waiting out our quarantine. The train is walking distance, restaurants are walking distance but a little farther than we would like especially with the cold rain off and on.

Pizza was pretty good but the coke bottles were so small!

Of course we have breakfast here every morning and since we don’t eat lunch that makes it easy to decide dinner plans.

Nice restaurant called “Woodstone”

The hotel has a limited menu that works but they were closed over the weekend for some reason. We both feel fine and it’s so frustrating not being able to just get on a flight and go home. In researching what our requirements are we found that we have to test negative 24 hours before flying. For the airlines, we have to rebook 24 hours before as well. So the dilemma, test first or reschedule first?  Test first of course.

Our utensils came with a personal pizza cutter

We will keep using the self tests since they are cheaper and then once we get a negative test, we’ll take the proctored test. The biggest problem is how long do we wait until we can get a negative test? The first official day we tested positive per the proctored exam is Thursday, 5/26. We waited awhile hoping we would get a negative test just before the cruise since we started feeling symptoms, unknowingly, 5/21/22 and took a home test on 5/23. Wishful thinking for sure!

This dog was so sweet and friendly. Much larger than she looked in this photo.

We didn’t want to waste a test. The CDC states you must quarantine for 5 days but can go out with a mask for at least 5 days so thats 10 days. So, why cant we fly with a mask after 5-10 days? We did the self test again on 5/28 and 5/30, still positive. We will be testing every 2 days. 10 days will be 5/31 after symptoms started but it will be 6/5 if we have to wait until we had an official proctored diagnosis. We tested positive today so we’ll rebook an additional two days in the hotel in hopes we can get closer to that negative test!

These parks around the area with huge trees had some trees cut out as benches.

We have to wait 10 days until after the official report to talk to a doctor to see if we can get a letter stating we are safe for travel. So, just a waiting game for now. We will go out tomorrow if the weather cooperates and see a little of Amsterdam so it wont be a complete waste of a trip.

May God bless you and keep you safe.
