Last Stop – Southampton England

Anthem of the Seas in Cherbourg France

The time sure flew by this past 11 days. I guess with our bodies being so out of whack for so long, the time just flew by. We have a long trip ahead of us tomorrow. We will take a 2 hour bus ride to London Heathrow airport in the morning.

Izumi – our favorite sushi restaurant

We are scheduled get a covid test at the airport before our flight. The cost is only $45 each vs. $65 on the ship. We will then arrive in Copenhagen, Denmark around 9:30 pm. Our next cruise will begin May 15th. We are pretty excited about it with 2 days in Stockholm, a day in Estonia and a day in Finland.

Glasswork behind Chuck at dinner. It was very pretty.

The main dining room (complimentary meal) serves 3 daily meals. We usually go here about 3 or 4 days during the weekly cruises. Most dining rooms have very tall ceilings that shows the other 3 dining floors openly but this one had a normal ceiling. For us it made it feel more casual than the formal nights.

We have several excursions booked.  Places we haven’t been before. It’ll be nice to explore something different. We really enjoyed the Anthem of the Seas and look forward to sailing on her again in October.

The Windjammer (Buffet) is a great place for anything you want!

We had a musician/employee that played the guitar to greet us every visit reminding us to wash our hands!

Since I didn’t get this posted in time, I’m going to expand on how our trip from the cruise to Denmark worked. It was a long day for sure! We had our breakfast and debarked the beautiful Anthem of the Seas around 8:30 am. After waiting in queue/line for well over an hour, we took a cab to the bus station around the corner which cost us about $10 USD.

Johnny Rockets – a “for fee” restaurant. Although not bad in comparison to the higher end ones.

He wanted a credit card and Chuck handed him the $10 cash so he took it. In British Pounds that is about 8.50 which was the correct cab fare. We got our prepaid ticket and waited with all the other millions of passengers from all countries until our bus arrived at 12:30 pm. It was a long morning in which I spent a lot of that time talking to a British gentleman from Wales.

Coastal Kitchen – designed for guests in Suites and for Pinnacles, the top tier guests (that we will be next year before our World Cruise!) Complimentary restaurant similar to dining room but different dishes

It was interesting to hear that they have the same political issues as we do and some of the same problems as we do here in the USA. He said that Prince Harry has pretty much ruined his name here in the UK. I told him he could have Meghan and Harry back anytime. I got tickled when he said “Keep them!

Vintages is a wine bar with tapas. This is for a fee.

Jamies Italian – for a fee but so amazing!

He liked Trump but like some of us, he said if only he would keep his mouth shut. We had a nice 2 hour bus trip on a newer bus but the seats were so small, you have ,to diet before boarding! On our way we received a text that our 6:30 pm flight was canceled. Great, just what

Cafe two70 is a snack type place but healthy stuff like sandwiches, soups, salads and of course cookies and desserts. Complimentary

we needed! Everything was going so smooth to this point. They put us on an 8:30 pm flight which was 2 more hours in the airport. Chuck contacted the airlines but was told that since we we booked through expedia.com that we would have to go through them. So, I “chatted” with Expedia and they said since it was less than 10 hours before our flight the airline would have to make the change. Really? We decided to wait until we got to the airport to do anything. After arriving at the airport we first had to find where we needed to get our Covid tests. It was very easy and since we had an appointment, we walked right in and even had our tests back before we got to our gate.

Chops Grille is a steakhouse – for a large fee!

But first we had to get help from the airlines, SAS-Scandinavian Air. After locating the check-in location, which isn’t easy but once we thought back to our past traveling we remembered how crazy the airport was laid out. The gentleman, Naji, that helped us was unbelievably nice and wonderful. He took our passports and moved us to the 5 pm flight and showed us where to go once we exited the security. We didn’t have any information about our gate until they announced it 30 minutes before our flight was boarding. They keep you in the shopping areas and then announce or put on a screen what gate to head to when its time.

Sorrentos – Everyones favorite spot! Pizza 24×7!

We jumped on the flight and made it just fine. We were so thankful that this employee was so helpful! Naji was at the gate as well and Chuck was joking with him about flying the plane too. With a huge smile, he said he was working on it! Such a stress reliever. The flight was a budget airlines and you are required to pay for everything except a small cup of hot tea or coffee. The tea was pretty good.

La Patissere -this became our favorite coffee place. The team there took care of us everyday. They knew exactly how to make my Chai tea latte with almond milk and Cappuccino with almond milk and splenda! For a fee (has Starbucks coffees) but with our Diamond Plus status we received ours free.

Our cab from the airport was close to 400 DKK (Danish Krone), $50 USD. And we thought New Jersey was bad! Tipping taxi drivers is not common but they say to be nice, you can round up if paying cash. We paid by credit card and the driver spoke extremely little english so no rounding up. Our hotel is a small budget, clean and cute hotel. But let me tell you, this thing is small!

Looking down the elevators through the glass. About 10 floors. Looked more incredible than the picture.

The room has your basic needs. A shower, a bed, 3 small dining type chairs and a built in table. We totally forgot about the power converters. We brought one small cube that has multiple countries to convert to US but my Macbook is special and requires a special adapter. Luckily it works in the adapter we brought but it gets hot very quickly. I ruined the last one I had in the Canary Islands and had to buy a European plug. I am back to my US plug now. For now we will plug it up until I can get about 50% and then unplug it to cool down. Tomorrow we will explore Copenhagen. WE MADE IT! Excited to see what it has to offer!

May God bless you and keep you safe!
