New Home! Traveling suspended for now

Beaches in Clearwater, Florida are back open

During our stay in St. Croix we came to the realization that we will not be able to travel to the extent we have dreamed. The Covid19 virus has just taken the wind out of our sails. Disappointing yes but God has a way of opening other doors. We found a lovely condo in Dunedin, Florida that we have fallen in love with. We purchased the condo by only viewing photos and videos. Crazy? Yes!

The front of our Condo. Love the palm tree out front.

Our realtor was amazing. She took us through a Facetime tour and the place was everything we wanted. We are in an over 55 community and its so quiet here. Nice yard with a community pool that we haven’t tried out yet.

We ordered all our furniture the day we closed on August 31 and as of next week, November 5, we should have our final delivery. We flew to Virginia as soon as we closed on the condo and picked up Chucks dads car (he left it to him in the will) and then drove to Richmond and loaded up a Uhaul truck with all our belongings from our 5 x 10 storage building.

We kept no furniture except for my living room tables so we had to buy two bedrooms of furniture, living room, dining room and a desk. The last of our purchase when we closed on the condo is bar stools. They should arrive next week.

We’ve met a few of our neighbors but mostly staying at a distance due to this virus.

None of this is our furniture. These photos are all from the listing.

The virus counts as of today, November 1, 2020 are 46,189,124 cases worldwide with 9,222,849 of those in the USA. Deaths are1,197,126 worldwide and 234,085 USA.

The hospitalizations are down and the deaths have slowed due to drugs becoming available to treat it and the doctors are getting much better at understanding the virus but no vaccine as of yet. We are told we will have one soon.

I’ve asked several people randomly if they would get the vaccine. Many have said yes, some are hesitant but said they would after some time. We will definitely get the vaccine.

Our election is underway. We pray daily that God’s will is for us to have the best leadership for our country. With the virus looming and the recent racial disturbance we need to allow God to take back control and stop trying to do it our way.

We love being back on our bikes.

We have a lot riding on this election year and it’s truly been a crazy year for sure.

Birds taking a break in the tree

So, back to the fun stuff. We have been riding our bikes and walking the neighborhood. Its such a wonderful place. Quiet, clean and beautiful. We were really lucky and blessed to find this condo in this neighborhood. It is a two bedroom, two bath, open concept with a one car garage. Its perfect for the two of us. I have picked out one wall that spans across the living room and dining area to be the travel wall. I’m making shadow boxes of each country we visited.

They are full of photos, keychains, postcards and sand from the beaches. Such great memories. I have 3 done so far. I hope to have the others complete and hung on the wall by the end of the year. The other two projects are something to hang the ships on the wall from our cruises with the final project being a world map that spans across the living area.

Clearwater, Florida. out on the Ferry

The map is made of wood and is huge. I can’t wait to order it so we can put it up. We have also decided to print this blog to book. The only problem is the book will need to be in multiple volumes because it is so big. It will be a nice memory for years to come.

In September, just 3 weeks from each other, we lost my sweet brother and sister-in-law to lung cancer. I sure will miss them.

Cruises have been shut down by the CDC and WHO since March when the virus started and they are finally starting to get approval to resume cruising. We are assuming it will be a few months before passengers are allowed but we will wait. We canceled all of our cruises up to April 2021 where we leave out of Sydney, Australia and end up in Hawaii. Once we arrive in Hawaii we will fly to Tokyo and embark on another ship from there to Russia and Alaska to final destination of Seattle, Washington USA. We are waiting anxiously for them to resume.

Most of our travel will either be cruising or a month at a time in a specific location. Assuming of course the travel industry resumes at some point. It will be some time before we will be able to, I am sure.

For now, we will just enjoy our home in Dunedin, Florida and try to stay healthy. I’ll probably start posting in this blog again once we start traveling but it probably wont be until April of 2021. The blog has been a great way to document our travels and make memories. It’s sad we had to stop so soon but God has a plan and we will do what He has set before us. For now, may God bless you always and stay safe!
