Esperance, Australia

Such a beautiful view

Esperance, Australia. We walked around this quaint little VERY WINDY town on the south western coast of Australia. Not much here but very pretty white sand on the beaches. We saw the cutest little mock lighthouse sitting at the end of the pier. Very well cared for.

This bench is a charging station for your phone. However, it must be the wireless type.

There are about 12,000 people here and the major industries are tourism, agriculture and fishing. With the high winds, surfing is a big deal here but that was on a side of the island we didn’t see. I can’t imagine the wind on that side in comparison to where we were today.

Such beautiful flowers all around the island.

They also have a Salt Lake called Pink lake. It gains its name from the red algae living in the water. However, its no longer pink. Many tourists have been confused when they seek out the famous pink lake and find that it’s actually white. Australia is trying to get it renamed back to Lake Spencer to stop the disappointment many tourists have when finding the lake.

We liked this clock tower. It rang bells on the hour.

They believe the salt mining on the lake is one of the contributing factors of the pink color disappearing. We did find some different types of flowers and trees we haven’t encountered before. They are very pretty.

This mock lighthouse was called Don’s Lighthouse.

This little cove had many sailboats anchored until their next trip out. We were amazed at the amount of catamarans.

We attended a non-denominational Ash Wednesday here on the ship. It was very nicely done. The couple hosting it was from Austin, Texas. They have a cruise ship ministry and cruise about 100 days a year.

Our next stop is Adelaide, Australia which is considered South Australia. This will take a few days to arrive. Its very windy “down under” here. Hopefully we can keep our hat on.

May God bless you always.
