Saying goodbye and moving on.

The second girl from the left was at our home. She’s so serious.

Our last night in the villa. We are packed and ready for our driver tomorrow for our trip to Ubud, Indonesia. Will need plenty of rest for that 4 hour trip. The worst about leaving, is having to start wearing shoes again. We have been barefoot since we arrived. It’ll be different for sure! While Chuck is showering I laid in bed watching the Gecko on the ceiling eyeing a moth and a mosquito. I was hoping he would get the mosquito but he wasn’t quick enough. Not sure what happened after Chuck turned the lights out. I could have watched him for awhile.

Chuck is saying “I can’t believe I’m wearing this dang hat!”

He was interesting. I don’t think they are all the same one but we have one that visits in the Cabana. One stays in the living room while we are watching TV in the evening and one is in the upstairs bedroom when we are ready for bed. They are very harmless and only make noises every once in awhile to let you know they are around. Sometimes they make a clicking noise and sometimes it sounds just like the word gecko.

True love! đź’–

We decided to take a few photos on the upper level as our final hoorah. I made Chuck suffer through a mini photo session. I think they turned out pretty cool. There were some Asian rice hats that were used as decorations in one of the bedrooms. Since the rice fields are very popular here, we decided to use one of those and the Buddha for props in our picture. We said our goodbyes to the other members of the team and put some Rupiah in their tip jar. The owner said he would distribute it when he returns. The “jar” is homemade and sealed.

We gave ILU hers personally. We gave her 600,000 Rupiah ($44 USD) and we put 500,000 Rupiah ($37 USD) in the jar for the other 5 to split. They have 3 houses here and the girls (and one pool boy) all help each other out, especially on their days off. Which is only one day a week. Their schedule is 8 am – 2 pm. They take a break until 5 pm. Then they leave around 6:30-7:00. So, at least 8 hour days, 6 days a week. They work hard and do an amazing job taking care of their guests.

When we gave ILU her tip, she had tears in her eyes. I have never seen anyone appreciate a tip before. It really made us feel good that we were able to provide them something more going above and beyond. She said when we come back, we need to stay with her. She’s a very sweet person. Here in Indonesia, women are treated inferior to men. She and Chuck had a thing every night when we had to pay her for our meals and he would tease her about women always wanting money.

She always laughed. Chuck treated her with respect and I think she appreciated that very much. We’ve enjoyed the villa but there’s more to see so we can’t wait to move on. Tomorrow is another day full of blessings!

May God bless you always!
