Christmas Eve

What a beautiful area to celebrate Christmas eve. We are cruising around the Persian Gulf killing time until we get to Doha, Qatar. The ship is making a few circles in the gulf until we need to start heading to the port of Qatar.

We are not expected to arrive until Christmas day so we need to stay in the gulf so we don’t have to pay port fees (which the passengers pay).

All the kids and adults are out soaking up the wonderful warm sun. We are going to spend the day in a nice quit place to read and maybe take a few naps. Tonight we will attend a Catholic mass. I’m excited that Royal Caribbean brought on a priest to give its passengers and crew this opportunity.

Poor quality photo (IPhone) but they were dressed pretty.

We were on a Royal Caribbean cruise in April for Easter and they did the same thing. I don’t recall at Easter that communion was offered. On this cruise it was. Due to the very high risk of spreading germs on a cruise ship, we chose to accept the cracker but pass on the wine!

Officers Singing Christmas Carols

We noticed everyone else had the same idea. They performed the mass in English but also included an Italian and Spanish song and reading. It was really nice. After mass we watched a Christmas performance put together by the singers and dancers of Royal Caribbean.

Christmas Mass

They did a nice job and the snow falling on the front rows was a nice touch. Before retiring to our room and wait for Santa to arrive, the offices of the ship sang Christmas carols in the middle Centrum. All the stairwells were packed.

The band all decked out in their Santa hats.  They do such a good job!

It was a nice evening and the officers sent the kids to bed early with a promise that Santa Clause would be there at 8 am. on Christmas day.

Looking forward to tomorrow. We will be spending Christmas day at a huge Arabian horse complex. It will be an exciting Christmas day for sure!

May God bless you all and Merry Christmas!
