| There are quite a few flowered, tall shrubs along the roadside. It appears they are all in the fall colors. Very pretty. |
Its been difficult this trip to post anything of significance when there’s just not much interesting to post. We have been walking the streets and exploring the town of Marrakech. Not too much different than our trip to Essaouira the last 30 days, excluding the fact we don’t feel like we need a shower from all the dust blowing around. During one of our walks yesterday, Chuck decided to get his haircut. The young man was so much fun and did an amazing job. We asked him to cut Chuck’s hair very short. #2 short. We showed him a picture to explain and he started cutting but wasn’t cutting short enough however, the 2nd time we explained he got it!
He spoke good English but we think he just didn’t understand why Chuck wanted such a short haircut! To trim the edges, he whipped out his straight razor and the look on Chucks face was priceless! He pulled out the device and poured alcohol on the blade and lit it up. It burned a second or two and then he inserted a new blade. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the shop and the way he ran the business.

He really did a great job and it only cost 100 dirham ($10 USD). We really enjoyed his conversations. He told us a little about Marrakech. Much of it not any different than other countries including America. (They ask where we are from, we say US or United States and they say, oh, America! We’ve since resorted to saying America in this area.) He said the homeless/beggars are everywhere. Not much different than America.

We asked about the police and he said not much crime here but that most of the police are paid to overlook stuff. But, again not much crime so what is there to overlook? Next to his shop is a salon for women. I haven’t decided if I will go or not. However, the haircut is only 50 dirham/$5 USD so may just do it.
| The presence of the straight razor woke Chuck up! |
Changing Sim cards at each location and sometimes being without service on the day we travel has been a huge pain and sometimes inconvenience. We decided to research their solution and see if it would fit our needs. The only problem is the Sim card can only be purchased in the US so we had to have our son, Scott, purchase the cards and FedEx them internationally to us. They will be at the Rome hotel once we arrive there on Friday. They were shipped last week and according to FedEx website were out for delivery on Friday.

The delivery didn’t happen and we couldn’t find out anything over the weekend. Chuck made a phone call to FEDEX in the US and they said we would have to handle it at the local office. They gave us a phone number in Rome that didn’t get us anywhere although this number was also on the Rome FedEx website. The site also had an international number as well so we tried that one. They have an English option and the person on the phone was super nice, told Chuck the delivery didn’t state to leave at front desk but they should have since it was a hotel.

They said the delivery would happen today, and it did, and they refunded the fee of $42 since it wasn’t delivered on time. Such a deal!

We’ll wait for his response before moving forward. I feel confident he will find it somewhere. The only difference that may cause an issue is on the first reservation, I didn’t receive a confirmation number, however the second one I did. We’ll just have to wait and see. Tomorrow we’ll start working on more planning and enjoying the warm weather while we can.
May God bless you all!
