During all of our stays in HomeAway and Airbnb’s we haven’t had any issues worth mentioning and we always leave a good review. There have been minor issues such as our last place had ants that we just couldn’t get rid of. Not swarms of them but a few here and there.
They had lots of plants in that atrium and we saw some ant piles outside the front door. We had a can of ant spray and just kept them away. The kitchen is where we would have to fight them the most but we managed. We would inform the owner and they indicate they will do something about it.
In those cases, our review of them on these sites is good. Morocco may have a different review. We will try to be positive but there are some things that others who want to rent here should know about.
The young lady responsible for the apartments cleaning and overall maintenance answers our texts when its convenient to her. The apartment hasn’t been cleaned in almost two weeks. We finally had to contact the owner to get it cleaned. We don’t mind doing our own cleaning and typically expect to as long as there are cleaning materials.
They gave us 1 trash bag, 1 roll of toilet paper, 1 dishwashing tablet and 1 set of sheets. Did I mention we rented this place for 30 days? We are accustomed to buying the trash bags and toilet paper and some dishwashing powder if necessary. We use it so we’ll buy it but if they want us to keep the apartment clean, leave us the tools to do so! She came after 1 week to change the sheets and she cleaned and straightened up.
The second week, she showed up unannounced and we were still in our pajamas so we asked her to give us the sheets and we would change them. We sent a message for her to pick them up after we changed them. Two weeks later, we notified the owner and she showed up yesterday to pick up the sheets and towels we had sitting in the floor near the kitchen and front door.
Today she showed up to clean as scheduled. She wasn’t very happy and we felt bad but again, provide the stuff and we’ll take care of it. She did a very nice job but took her a couple of hours because everything was so dusty and the floor was dirty.

We kept the kitchen clean so that was fine but we were getting borderline to my liking on the sheets and towels! It’ll be the first time we provide a not so stellar review. The apartment is nice, location great and we like it so its not all bad.

We’ll pack Tuesday for a Wednesday morning departure. I took my zoom lens with me to take photos of people. I don’t like asking people if I can take their picture, especially in a foreign country. So, my zoom lens allows me to be quite a distance away and try to be as discreet as possible.
Some of them saw me and didn’t say anything. If they moved, I didn’t take it. I tried to respect them the best I could since I was being rude and taking their photos without their permission. I wanted to capture the faces of Morocco and hopefully did a pretty decent job.

I like them and may create a photo book sometime in the future with them and other items about Morocco. It’s an interesting country with a culture all its own.

I’m sure there wont be much difference than here in Essaouira other than its about 3 hours from the coast. We heard it is warmer which will be good. It has become very windy here and much cooler. In the mid to low 60’s.

Not bad in the sun but we are having to wear our jackets now and its still chilly. The bad part is the sand is so bad, its shower time when we get home.

| It intrigues me as to why some women wore the full head scarf and others do not. There are many variations. |
Hopefully the wind is much calmer in Marrakech. We’ll see what they have to offer. I’m ready to leave Morocco. There’s only so much we can see here and I’m ready for our cruise.
It starts on November 30th from Rome to Dubai via the Suez Canal. I’ll write more about it and the itinerary once we get to Marrakech.
