Inside the courtyard at Windsor castle
Today was our long trip day to Windsor Castle, another home to the Queen. It is about 20 miles west of London so we needed to take an hour long train ride. We enjoyed the peaceful ride and looking at the beautiful country.
It was my (mis)understanding that the crown Jewels were being staged here during the 200th celebration of Queen Victoria. (The reason we didn’t visit the inside of The Tower of London). Well, I was a day off.

This is the long walk, which from the end of it, the view is amazing but we didn’t make it that far!
What I thought I read was they would be at Windsor Castle until the 21st of September. What is actually said was they would be on display ONLY on the 21st of September. Oh well, cant win them all!

The castle had twice a many, if not more rooms than Buckingham palace. Of course, again we couldn’t take photos of the inside.

This poor guard. I was walking around and taking pictures. He never smiled or turned his head but his eyes were in the direction of my camera. I can only imagine what he was thinking!
I can tell you that it wasn’t as impressive as Buckingham palace. Maybe by design but it was still beautiful.

St. Georges Chapel was magnificent!
St. Georges Chapel, located on the grounds is where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were married.

The Chapel was elegant and beautiful and full of history. I can see why they chose to be married here. An interesting note was that in the viewing gallery of the Chapel, there are crowns and swords hanging all around the chapel of all the Knights of the Garter.

These Knights of the Garter are chosen personally by the Sovereign to honor those who have held public office, who have contributed in a particular way to national life or who have served the Sovereign personally. Prince William was appointed as the 100th Knight by the Queen in 2008 for this honor.

The gardens inside the walls of the castle. As much as the Queen loves color I would have assumed it would have many beautiful flowers here.
It’s not as large as Westminster Abbey, location of his brother Prince William’s wedding, but still a beauty.

A lot of talent went in to designing these.

After a long hot day, we made it back to the station and rode home. I think we both dozed off on the train.
