| London skyline over the Thames River |
Last night we decided to make an impromptu trip to London. No real plans whatsoever! The trip was about 30 minutes by train. We actually got off a few stops too soon because we logged about 6 miles total for the day.
 |
| The London Bridge train station is well designed |
Wasn’t my idea at all! We caught a train about 1/2 mile from the apartment and got off at the London Bridge exit. We decided on the train to head for Buckingham palace just to see how we would get there on the day we have our tour.

| Southwark Cathedral – 800 year old riverside cathedral by the Thames River. The mother church of the Anglican Diocese of Southwark |
We should have stayed on the train for a few more stops. We walked so much! But, if we hadn’t, we would not have been able to get right smack in the middle of a protest!
 |
| Just another beautiful architectural building |
Now THAT was interesting. First time for me. A lot of chanting and marching and signs! Everywhere! Police, everywhere! This was at Trafalgar square.
 |
| Colorful decorated crosswalk |
Such a beautiful area that we will go back to when people aren’t hanging all over the gorgeous lion statues and the water fountain. That was the bad part. Chuck walked up to one of the bobbies (policemen) and asked what they were protesting and he said it was a protest to try to oust Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
 |
| Protesting in front of Trafalgar Square |
Apparently they can try to protest and try to get the people to get him out or they have to sit and wait for the election comes up in the next few years.
 |
| Couldn’t get close due to the protests, although it appeared to be peaceful |
Since it was so crowded and we were getting hungry we decided to pop into a pub to get a bite to eat. I had some wonderful avocado bruschetta with some chips (french fries) with vinegar. Chuck had some nachos.
 |
| Lots of coppers a.k.a bobbies a.k.a policemen |
The pub was cozy and the young ladies got a kick out of our accents. They asked where in the US we were from. Chuck just said, the US and she said no, what part.
 |
| Many different signs of protest. Some were a little x rated! |
Your accent is so different. We all laughed and said one from Virginia and one from Texas. As southern as you can get! When we finally decided to leave, the temperature dropped about 20 degrees and was raining.
 |
| Thankful we ate before we saw these!! |
We decided to give it up for the day and catch the nearest train back. It was a nice day and feel very lucky to be able to say, hey lets go to London for the day! The train trip was only $7.00 round trip. I think we can handle the transportation here as well. We’ll need to keep up our walking.
 |
| Loved Garfunkels. Great meal! |
Our trip to Virginia included bloodwork that we promised our doctors at 6 months. It has only been 4 but its the best we can do right now. We both lost weight and our bloodwork had no areas of concern so we are very happy and our doctors are as well.
 |
| I failed to get the name of this but it was pretty |
We will keep eating the way we are with the occasional biscuit (cookie) and pasta without feeling guilty! We love our new life!
May God bless you always!
