| Entrance to Museum had a pretty garden in front |
We normally do not go to this extreme in visiting museums however we purchased a Jersey heritage pass to 6 venues (museums and castles) as a package.
The normal price would be about 10 (GBP) pounds per per person, which would be around 120 GBP for all 6 venues if we chose to visit them. When talking to the young lady in purchasing them, she said she would give us both the senior pass since we would be on the island for 40 days.

| A prison was built as early as 1645 to house those who broke the law by swearing, blasphemy, drunk, begging, rebellious children and argumentative servants. This paddle wheel was punishment inside the prison’s. It was used to thrash wheat. My question about the children… who was in prison, the parents or the child? 🤔 |
 |
| The keys to the cells look like something from Mayberry RFD. I was impressed that they actually had a rule book on how to run the prisons. |
 |
| Don’t think any prisoners would escape from that room. |
This price was 48 GBP for both of us. We would be crazy to pass that up. That would be the same price as going to just 2 venues if we paid individually.
 |
| This was the history told similar to the Tapestry created for the Liberation. It is meant to be touched. |
So, we have visited all but one and that’s the Mont Orgueil Castle and we’ll visit that before we leave on August 14th. Just 2 weeks left here. Hard to believe time flies by so quickly. Yesterday we visited the Jersey Museum and Art Gallery.

| Stained glass windows from c.1915 from the Fisherman’s Chapel in St. Brelade, c. 1915-1930. Catholicism was made illegal in the island after the Reformation but in the 1790s there were an influx of Roman Catholic refugees from the revolution in France. They could worship but they weren’t allowed to make converts. The religion at that time was Anglicanism |
Many of them have the same stuff. This one was no different. It did have a short video that discussed the history of the island back from the beginning and it included the places we had already been so it was like a recap. We still learned something new so it wasn’t boring at all.Â

| During the 18th century every man between 15 and 65 had to serve in the militia. These uniforms and breastplates were worn by many |
They opened a new Apple store here although its not named that. Since I’m an apple fan, I was drooling but had to keep my impulses under control. However, I really like the new iPad Pro’s, but the price was crazy! 850-1200 GBP.Â

| Many different medicines were available during the 1600’s. Much of it homemade |

| This Nerve Restorer was the original Xanax. “Feeds the brain, strengthens the nerve!” |
The exchange difference here is pretty high so that’s $1000-$1500 in USD. Not this girl. My iPad air has a cracked glass and the button on front doesn’t work but it still works with the top button. So, until it dies, it will be what I will be using.

| A Childs school book |
I have a MacBook Air as my computer and it’s so lightweight and small. I love it. Fingers crossed, it lasts forever! We will have to bite the bullet in London and get Chuck a new iPad but hopefully we can get a refurbished one at a reasonable price.Â

| Following the Normandy invasion in June, 1944, nearing starvation, the Red Cross packed and delivered these boxes to families in January 1945 on the Swedish ship SS VEGA. Due to this extreme generosity, islanders continue to donate large sums of money in support of the Red Cross |

| Jersey cows and Jersey Royals (Potatoes) are their bread and butter of the land. The number one industry is Finance. |

| The States is made up of 29 Deputies and 12 parish Constables for 3 year terms and 12 Senators for 6 year terms. Notice how the main two “thrones” that one sits higher than the other. |
 |
| The ballot box was introduced in1891. Women were not allowed to vote until age 30 in 1919 but by 1930 any female over age of 18 who meets residency requirements is allowed to vote. Residency cant happen until a candidate have been on the island for at least 9 years. |

| Jersey, Channel Islands flag. A Red Saltire (diagonal cross) on a white background with the yellow “Plantagenet crown” |
It will be another night walking home on that pitch dark road. We’ll try to remember to stop and do some star gazing.
 |
| In the Art Gallery, the few things we found interesting, a fire engine made entirely of matchsticks. There were some paintings as well but no artists that we recognized. |
They say it is beautiful since there’s no light pollution to ruin your view. I doubt my camera will pick up any of them but I’ll try.Â
 |
| This monstrosity was created with over 50 different materials including toy car steering wheel, plumbers piping, BMX knee pads, a vacuum cleaner, purse magnets, fish food containers guitar strings, Football shoulder pads, leather belts and stilts. It was about 6-7 feet tall. |
 |
| Lillie Langtry 1878 – born in Jersey – went on to become a well known actress. This portrait of her holding a Guernsey lily was on of the most celebrated paintings of its day. At one time a policemen was assigned to guard the painting at the Royal Academy in London. A movie she was in was “The Westerner” in 1940 |
Have a great day and may God bless you always!
