| Condos over the marina at St. Helier, Jersey |
While enjoying the amazing weather sitting out on the patio, we had 2 visitors. First, we saw a little field mouse and I do mean little. There are a lot of fields around where we are staying so it’s not a surprise. They don’t bother me. I think they are cute as long as they are outside my house! The next thing we see is a black cat strutting around the corner casually like he owned the place.
 |
| We are calling him Tom (from Tom & Jerry cartoon) |
Maybe he does? I don’t know where he came from. Very friendly and a very pretty color. He walked right up to the mouse and sniffed it and of course the mouse hesitated but then ran off. It was like a Tom & Jerry cartoon! Well, the cat wasn’t going to let him go too far. He waited for him and when he came back out he caught him. I told Chuck, well, he has dinner now. But, he played with it for a few minutes and either let it go or it got away. Our entertainment for the morning!

| le Petit Train |
Today we made our way downtown to catch the “le Petit Train”, a little choo-choo train to ride along the St. Aubin’s bay area and learn a little history about the island. It’s a beautiful day for a ride. It was 79 degrees Fahrenheit/26 Celsius.

I make Chuck convert it for me. I’m still having a hard time with the difference. Also, is it Centigrade or Celsius? The trip was about an hour round trip. We got off at the end and had lunch at a small cafe. Chuck had “chips” a.k.a. French fries and I wanted a plain Artisan donut.

They only had jelly so I took it. It tasted amazing but too much jelly for me. I took about half of it out. I should have opted for the authentic Jersey ice cream. Since the original Jersey cows originated from Jersey, we have Jersey milk, butter and ice cream. It’s so smooth and creamy.

I’m sure we’ll see some cows in our travels since they have many farms here and I WILL have some ice cream. After lunch we walked around the waterway and the sea wall to look at the boats and St. Aubin’s fort in the distance.

We made it back to the train just a few minutes before it left. We would have had to wait another hour if we missed it.

After our train ride, we walked around and explored Liberty Square. Its an area you can sit and enjoy the beauty and reflect on the history of the island if you choose.

Liberation Square
has a sculpture in the middle of the square to commemorate the liberation from German occupation in WWII. There are many cafes and shops around this area to enjoy as well.

| Non-working steam clock. Cant find much information on its background. Need to ask some locals. |
A wonderful place to relax and take a break before your next adventure.
 |
| This is a sign cut into the grass on the highway. I thought it was interesting. |
We made our way back to our car and then back to the cottage without incident and its only day 4. Not bad. I think we might get the hang of this eventually. We have to pay for parking everywhere. As you can imagine there’s not many places to park. Many are car parks that are several stories high. The nice part is most of them can be done by an app on your phone.
 |
| These flowers are at our cottage but there are so many all around the island. So much beauty! |
Looking forward to more sightseeing. This was only one beach. There are several all around the island.
 |
| I’m not much for selfies on windy days. |
With 8 lighthouses around the island, we’ll be busy hunting them all down.
May God bless you all!
