The Longines Pole International du Chevel is an international jumping competition. This is a 4 day event here in Deauville each year. In talking to Anne, my friend from Virginia, she enlightened me that this is also an event done by Longines down in Miami.

They hold it on the beach. It was an amazing event. The benches were hard but stayed a few hours before it looked like the rain may not hold off any longer.

We had to walk back home and this was near the car rental place. We decided to stop here after turning in the car and watch for awhile. This brought back my longing for horse back riding and many memories.

Although, I have never been in an English saddle, it was an amazing feat to watch these riders and their beautiful horses clear these obstacles.

At the end of an event, they would play the French national anthem and of course everyone stood as did we, out of respect. Before leaving, we walked into the stables and pet a few horses.
There were normal sized horses, Welsh ponies and even some miniature. I loved the horse smells and all the leather and hay. Brought back so many memories. I thoroughly enjoyed this day!

We walked home, taking a more scenic route than the one we walked up on 2 days ago. We walked past the race track, also called the Hippodrome.

| All international flags of participants. I didn’t see a US flag. |
The horse jumping was held at a hippodrome as well. Just past the race track was a horse farm for training and boarding.
I recognized the name on one of the advertisements at the Hippodrome.

It was a beautiful day and a very long walk home. We had to take multiple breaks. These last few days were a lot of walking for me. I needed more rest!

Next week we hope to visit Paris if the weather holds off.
