WOW! I cant believe its June already! We are winding down our stay here in Benalmadena, Spain and will depart on Wednesday, June 5th. We will fly to Paris and then rent a car to drive to Deauville, Normandy, France.
Its hard to believe we have been in Spain almost a month already. We arrived on May 6 after our long cruise across the Atlantic. What an amazing adventure we have had so far. And so much more ahead of us! Friday, we took a bus trip down to the Puerta Marina. Its a beautiful marina with shopping, restaurants and fun things for kids and adults.

Snickers for me and Mango Cheesecake for Chuck. It was soooo good!
They also had lots of Gelato that was amazing!

The bus stop close to the water and the more frequent one
We hopped on the #110 bus to the beach. There are two main buses, #103 and #110. 1.55 euros each per trip unless you by the refillable card then it is 1.10 euros each per trip. We bought the card which is 1.80 euros more but it can be returned and get that back. We returned it on this trip.

Not sure where Prison Island took you but wasnt going to look. 🙂
Bus #103 will take you into the shopping areas of Benalmadena where most of the locals shop. We ride this one to go buy our groceries. We take our own shopping bags because you have to pay for more or bring your own.

Walking inside the mall. 3 levels, shopping on one, restaurants on another and entertainment on the 3rd.
The 103 also stops closer to the apartment so I can walk on a more flat surface and not agitate my ankle as much. Its just a longer wait for this bus. Bus #110 is more geared to tourists and only runs along the strip by the water, however it goes all the way to Malaga with is quite a trip and its more frequent.

Small boutique clothing and department stores line the bottom floor.
We took the 110 bus to the Marina and we will also use it when we go to dinner tomorrow night because it goes farther down to the restaurant on the beach and we wont need to walk as far. The downside, if there is one, is that when returning home, it drops off down by the beach so we need to walk a little ways uphill to get to the apartment. Not that big of a deal, Dr. Chuck just wants me to walk on more even ground until my ankle is fully healed. It will be fine. We’ll walk slower.

You can also get a Fish Spa for your feet. I tried to get Chuck to try. NOPE!
We discussed this week that we finally have the lay of the land somewhat and now we are leaving. Our plan was to stay at least 2 months in each location as we traveled but during my planning of Europe, the Schengen zone visa issues changed that, so we are 30 days in most locations, 40 in some.

He wouldn’t put his feet in here either! 😂
I believe we’ll be in Australia for almost 2 months but that will be cruising for 55 days and then some 2-5 day hotel stays in between.

We were amazed that we found a Tony Romas in this mall. It was a tough decision to try TexMex or Tony Romas tomorrow night. TexMex won!
Today, we packed mostly everything and weighed it. Cant go over 50 pounds per bag on the airplane. We are flying AirFrance to Paris on Wednesday. 2 pieces of luggage are covered with the purchase of the ticket/credit card combination.

The marina has a beautiful area to dock your boat. Many people live here in the apartments behind the Marina
They wouldn’t allow me to purchase the other two bags online so we have to wait until we get to the airport to pay for the 2 additional luggage. We’ll be sure to arrive early. We’ve missed one flight due to being late.

Large decorated structure possibly used for concerts
That wont happen again if I can control it. This is our first airline trip since we started our travels. Don’t need to get off on the wrong foot, especially in a foreign country.

Another section of the marina with white Roman architecture that was very nice
Rolling our clothes, packing and distributing items evenly took us about an hour and a half.

Many of these local vendors were out selling items such as shoes and purses. Don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone selling shoes in this fashion. Purses, maybe. Shoes? I don’t think so.
Most of our clothes are packed in cubes and we unpacked less than half of what we brought mainly due to lack of drawer and hanging space in this apartment. The owners locked one closet so it couldn’t be used at all.

Another way to sell your goods. A floating jewelry store!
This actually turned out to be an awaking. Since we couldn’t unpack everything, we left most in suitcases and we found we rarely needed to open them in the month we have been here.

Many surfers were out on Friday.
We have way too many clothes. We have decided to look at downsizing when we get to London in August.

A beautiful view of the waves with Malaga in the background.
At least by 1 suitcase. We’ll check to see the costs to have it shipped back full (about 30 pounds).

Puerta Marina, Benalmadena Lighthouse. Many fishermen were out trying their luck from the pier as well.
That will save us at least $30 per airline trip and after London, we have at least 4-6 more sky trips before we reach the United States again.

Beach was busy today. The weather is perfect so we can see why!
If we can get it back to the U.S. for around $100, we’ll still save approximately $80. We’ll see how it works out in August when we look at this again.

A couple of items we saw that were different – a cigarette vending machine. Haven’t seen this is in ages! 4.80 Euros/$5.34 pack. Not much different than the U.S. Smokers are pretty dominant here.

Another we haven’t seen before. On a Volkswagen bus maybe but not a Mercedes. Is it a camper?
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Such tragedy for no reason. A disgruntled city employee fatally shot 12 people and wounded four others in a mass shooting at a municipal building in the Princess Anne area.
May God bless you all and keep you safe!
