Today we went for round two of our Hepatitis A/B vaccines. The final round for those will be in March. I can tell you they do not feel great. Now we need to order (from the local Walgreen’s pharmacy) the Japanese Encephalitis and the Typhoid vaccines. Chuck is going to get the Tetanus. I am highly allergic so I can’t get that one. Oh, darn! After that, I think all we will need is the yellow fever and we’re done! We got a break in cost because Chuck’s medicare will cover some of his. For me, not so much. I’ll include all costs once we finish but I wouldn’t be surprised if we pay around $1000 for all these vaccines which was close to my first estimation. UUGGHH!

Now on to the fun stuff. The results of the itinerary are starting to come together. Its not just on paper anymore. We have booked and paid for cruises and lodging from April 2019-January 2020! First stop after our cruise from Texas to Spain is Torrequebrada, Benalmádena, Málaga, Spain. We’ll be here for 30 days. We’ll have our own pictures to share once we arrive but wanted to share what we have been “sold”.
| This will be the view from the balcony in Spain. I’m sure we’ll be here every morning with coffee in hand. |
| The open concept living room and dining room. My favorite accent color red! |
| Cant get enough of that view. |
| Absolutely beautiful! |
| The Pool!!!!! |
We will have free WiFi, satellite TV, a supermarket, beach, restaurants, all within walking distance. We can reach the train with a short ride by bus and go anywhere in Spain or most of Europe although it can get costly, depending on what type of pass/ticket we buy.
This particular location is between Malaga and Marbella. Our original location we chose was Marbella, which is a popular beach town but when we had to change from 60 days down to 30 days (immigration issues) we found this cute location. We can take a train to Marbella and explore.
| Our location is just below Malaga, Spain |
The greatest part of this is that we get to enjoy this stage of our life as we choose. We are more than grateful for this opportunity and we are getting more excited each day. As we research the areas, we learn more each time. We’ll need to learn the different currencies. Spain of course is Euros. From the time we booked and paid the deposit, the price has changed several times. Learning some Spanish language is something we need to look into. Chuck seems to be more interested in that than I so I’ll let him run with it.
Our next month long location will be in Deauville, Normandy France. Our time here is at the same time as the D-Day 75th Anniversary celebration. Chuck is very interested in this because Bedford, Virginia lost the most men per capita in that war. In Bedford a memorial was built and is an amazing show of what these men went through. I recommend anyone that is able, go see that memorial.
Normandy was such a large range area that we really didn’t know where to stay so we chose Deauville. The duplex is right in a marina so we’ll be able to see the boats and sit out by the water every morning drinking our coffee. I hope you can see our theme now. Water, coffee, beach……

This cute little place has 2 bedrooms, free WiFi, a bicycle (since we wont have a car that may come in handy) and is close to the “landing” beaches. I’m sure we’ll love it here. Guess Chuck needs to add French to his vocabulary!
Next on the list: Jersey, Channel Islands. Part of the geography I hadn’t heard before. This journey has us revisiting our geography and history quite frequently. It’s a small island just west of France. It is not part of the UK, however the United Kingdom is constitutionally responsible for the defense of Jersey. Again, something to add to our knowledge base. We aren’t bound to the total 90 day Schengen zone rules here so we can stay here up to 90 days, which is great because I booked another 40 days in London. We’ll be in Jersey for 40 days. In speaking to the sweet couple that we will be renting from on the phone, they are delighted with our long stay and she told me a story that they came to America once and when they told others they were from Jersey, everyone she talked to thought, NEW Jersey. She got a laugh out of it. Currency here is Pound Sterling although I found they have their own currency, Jersey Sterling. They give you change in Jersey Sterling and it will be difficult to exchange it after leaving. We will need to pay attention to this. And they speak ENGLISH!!

| Peaceful Grouville, Jersey |
| This is cute. |
| Let me guess. Jersey cows? |
| Jersey, Channel Islands |
The island is 45 square miles and its about 12 nautical miles from France. We cant wait to explore all of it! May have to rent a car here.
Our next stop will be London, England. For the cost, we had to stay a little further out in Croydon, but it’ll only be about a 45 minute train ride to get to London. We’re OK with that. I think this is more in the country. This time we wont be as close to the water as we have been.
This apartment will have everything we need including free WiFi, a pool, washer/dryer, 2 bedrooms (if anyone wants to visit) and a bright colorful kitchen. Maybe we’ll get to see the Queen while here.
| Very stylish and Ikea like in Croyden, England. I noticed Ikea is close by. |
| The kitchen has an induction hob a.k.a induction Oven. |
| Stack-able washer and dryer. |
| One of the cute bedrooms. |
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain otherwise known as “The Canary Islands” or the Canaries. This part of our travels is where Chuck is the most excited. I’m thinking he just likes islands.
Tenerife is the island we will be visiting. We’ll only be here for 28 days because the Schengen rules of 90 days are too close for comfort and we don’t want to get kicked out of the country, so leaving a couple of days for wiggle room.
This 2 bedroom townhouse is located next to the beach and walking distance to all around town.
| Living area looks very nice in Tenerife, Canary Islands. |
This is the 2nd bedroom. Has a little sitting area for guests.
| Our private sitting area on the penthouse roof! |
| Indoor patio? |
| Ahhhhh. The beach, the palm trees….. |
We’ll be in Tenerife. I hear there are a lot of surfers and water sports. They say this island is one of the popular ones. We shall see.
Next stop….. Semlalia, Marrakech, Morocco. We’ll be here 40 days. We had the choice of immersing ourselves in the Moroccan culture by staying in a Riad, a traditional Moroccan house or palace with an interior garden or courtyard. Or in a more modern apartment. We chose the apartment. We’ll be happy to go and visit/tour a Riad while there. Maybe something to do in the future.

| not sure…… but looks cozy. |
Chuck wants to take a visit up to Casablanca. We were planning on staying in Casablanca but was talked out of it. People said you’ll be bored after a week. More to do in Marrekech. So, we’ll take a trip there during our 40 day stay.
From here we will fly to Rome and board the cruise for a trip to Dubai through the Suez canal. We are staying in Dubai for 2 weeks (not booked yet) and then flying to Bali, Indonesia. We are only staying a short 27 days in Bali because we are boarding a ship in Sydney, Australia for two back to back cruises. The total days on the cruise will be 34 days.
We booked our Bali home. Its unbelievable and my favorite so far. I can see us coming back and staying a few months longer after our first year.
| This is called the Boathouse in Bali. We have the entire 3 bedroom, 3 bath house! |
| Can you imagine eating lunch and enjoying this view? |
| Can you say “nap time?” Love this cabana. |
| Our private pool. |
Planning was the easy part. Putting it all together is a different story. I can say that I am learning a lot!!
When we book more, I’ll add those locations. We have homes in Dubai, Australia and New Zealand to locate. What an adventure!
We hope by sharing our journey with all of you that you will be able to learn how living in other parts of the world can be, along with us. We hope you enjoy the pictures (once I take some of our own) and our experiences to travel the world along with us.
We leave in 6 months!!!
Until next time, may God bless you all.
